Being More than a Flash in the Pan: the Key To Going Viral
Injecting The Viral Into Your Online Business
Congratulations!
Having something 'go viral' is what very many marketers try to do for years. The reason for that quest is that having a viral campaign can change the face of your business in a matter of days. The downside to all this is there is no earthly means for predicting what will be viral, and what just stays the same. All is not lost, there are definite strategies you can use that will increase the chances of experiencing 'viral' in your online career. It's possible you may see these and think they're too common sense, but you really never know what may set you apart from all the others.
Always tag your content when you syndicate it to anywhere. You probably already realize that tags are used in places other than on a blog. Think about meta tags, you can use them on any page you publish on the net. Tags tell search engines and properties like Technorati how to classify your work and make sure that it is seen by the people who will appreciate it the most. Tags are easy (and free) to use and can help raise you in the page ranks on search engines and directories. If your content has enough appeal, as your ranking climbs more people will take notice of it - and then it may become viral in nature.
Avoid dragging your feet between content releases after your viral campaign. Saying "come back every week for a new piece" is not going to be good enough. So you will have to work a bit harder, and smarter, to avoid boring your new audience which will only encourage them to leave you. We all know what happens when you make people wait too long or they forget about us. After you've set things up, like maybe an ezine, then you can think about relaxing a little. However, prior to that point, you'll have to create and work on your projects every day.
One sneaky trick to getting something to go viral is to feign stupidity about a subject.
If that doesn't appeal to you, then you can always come out and admit to being half an idiot about something. Nothing wrong with admitting you don't know something and asking for help. People are not always easy to fool, and they'll see that you really are clueless or ignorant, and they'll comment in some way, or offer some kind of help. But, as always you can pretend and then include some really ignorant comments into your content. You'll see this done many times by quite a few internet marketers. Just be prepared to live with whatever it is you say. But we have to face facts in that it's not easy making something assume a viral nature. It's tough because no one can accurately know what will trigger this viral effect. So it can be difficult to create this kind of content. So just do the best as you can possibly do, and use whatever tricks and advice you find.

It's almost impossible to predict if something will become viral, so it's always an incredible surprise and extremely good when it happens. Having some kind of content that is popular and talked about on social media sites is a highly coveted event in the life of a marketer. Practically all marketers associate viral traffic with huge quantities of, usually, short lived traffic. Yet - there is no precise formula to create this kind of traffic every single time. Most people generally think of it as making some kind of content that just blows people away - gets their attention - and then you put it out there as much as you can. Of course there are sometimes obscure products that suddenly find their way to the limelight as well. Have you ever thought, or dreamed, how you can achieve viral traffic? Well, we'd like to share some ideas with you that could help your content become a viral traffic phenom.
Try creating content that produces a real visceral reaction in people.
Obviously you want them to really feel their emotions very suddenly. Of course you do 'not' want the standard kind of reacion like, "How interesting." Keep in mind that you may evoke negative reactions among people, but that's better than no reaction whatsoever. What they do with your content will be determined by the strength, quality, and degree of reaction to you.
Make it easy for people to share your work offline as well. You don't have to confine your marketing efforts to the internet just because you make your sales and promote your work online. viral content can also become contagious when it is offline. Don't make it hard for people to print, burn copies and share your work with those that don't have access to the internet on a regular basis. You could do this and get a load of new customers.
One of the cheaper tricks to getting your work to go viral is to pretend to be an idiot about something.
Of if you'd rather not, then simply say you're clueless about it. Nothing wrong with admitting you don't know something and asking for help. If it's really apparent that you're clueless, then people will see that and either offer to help or make comments about it. But, as always you can pretend and then include some really ignorant comments into your content. Online marketers really do this quite frequently. But just know that you'll be stuck with it for a long time.
It's not exactly known what will create viral content. This is due to no one being able to know what will become viral, or not. But you know, there's so much you can do to create interesting content on relevant topics. But if you're not motivated, or you do just enough to get by, and only hope for the best - well... good luck, then! Take a few easy steps to make your content and creations worthy of going viral. Never know - your results could be virally amazing.
